On reflection, I've had a lovely week with my brothers and got to experience the beautiful cities and landmarks of Vilnius, Trakei and Riga. I've eaten some delicious cuisine and enjoyed a range of beverages from some of the most unusual venues. Baltic architecture is picturesque, the culture and atmosphere is intoxicating and the weather has truly blessed us with clear skies and hot temperatures all week. All in all, it's been a fantastic break away from routine! 😍

A heated conversation I had recently really led me to a moment of clarity; in my isolation I have allowed myself to become very entitled and selfish. I take things for granted, lack appreciation, and place unjust expectations on people around me. I automatically assume things will happen as I expect, even when those responsible have no obligation to enact my expectations. It really got me thinking, and the reality of it is - all we leave behind when we go is the love we put out into the world. The memories we create, the experiences we share and the compassion we show to others that in turn leaves a positive legacy when we depart. I have become very detached from some aspects of reality, withdrawing into my cocoon of safety where I can ignorantly dismiss things and convince myself that this is just how things are; but the truth is, I've simply become a victim to routine finding comfort in the predictability of my life. As a creature of habit, I loathe change and unpredictability - I detest things beyond my control and accordingly I stick to focusing on only the things that I can rely on. There is no answer, no concluding, life changing statement to end this status; I guess the best I can offer is this; Take the time to appreciate those around you, find time to share in the company and to create new memories. Put your positive energy out into the world with love, kindness and compassion, even if the world does not reciprocate. Be optimistic and always look for the good in people and situations. Avoid living in the shadows and partaking in life only when it suits you; be present, be involved. Live life before it's too late.

You know, it's strange that no matter how good life is, you'll always have those moments where you think how different things could be. The job interview you never applied for, the person you never confessed your love for, the friendship you allowed to fade out, the dream you let die. You pause and begin to realise the power each passing moment has in creating your life; each decision you make, each path you choose, every door you walk through leaves an unexplored branch that you can never return to. Each time we make a seemingly insignificant choice, the repercussions unfold out of sight and mind. We are so distracted in our own little bubbles that we overlook the effect we have on each others lives; we hold back words, we suppress feelings, we bite our tongues and let emotions linger. We are too afraid, too fixated on the possible negatives that we disregard the possible positives. The fact is, each decision you make, each word you say or withhold, each adventure you take or miss, they all contribute to the way your life unfolds, and sooner or later you will realise very clearly the missed opportunities you let slip by. It's strange, or perhaps I'm just tired, but the fickleness of life is really is resonating with me deeply at present; the gravity of each passing second and the way we unconsciously choose our own destiny.

I can relate to quite a few of these, mainstream portrays men as always being the abuser and social media exacerbates it because even now it's seen as weak for men to admit to being victims so most keep quiet. It's an important conversation to have as it seems a large percentage of females feel they are exempt from being held accountable for how they treat men - largely where children are concerned.

The hypocrisy of social media really grinds my gears at times. All the positive posts following a celebrity suicide, the fake platitudes and #mentalhealthawareness and all that lark get disregarded 99% of the time. I've been trying to offer support to a friend on here who is going through some stuff at the moment and had written a status that read as a cry for help, and some random toxic female had the actual audacity to inbox me saying: "Can I just say, you literally have no clue. So stop trying to do the whole counselling over Facebook" 😑 I won't stop with the "whole counselling over Facebook" because when we stop talking about these concerns and emotions, they get bottled up and manifest in much worse ways. I hope all of you on my friends list offer support when you see someone who needs it and don't just shut them down or ignore them. The world can get dark at times - and we must be the light to guide the way for others. x

I take a bazillion photos of you. You get annoyed by it, you tell me not to. But one day you will understand that as you get older and your memory gets shitter, you start to forget all the simple, priceless little moments. The random faces, poses, activities, games, the little quirks and the magic of just watching you growing up. I take a bazillion photos, and when I flick through them, whenever you are away from me, or when I want to show friends that one specific time you did something clever, creative or crazy, I look back in amazement all over again at all these precious moments with this beautiful little girl who has forever changed my life and made me the happiest I could have ever hoped to be. You don't like me taking photos, but each one of them tells the story of a memory that I never want to lose, and as long as we keep making memories together, I'll continue to immortalise them in photos ❤️ xo
