I've decided it's time to stop prioritising Charlie since he evidently no longer prioritises me. Told Mum that moving forward, I'll make plans for Sunday's from the point of view that Charlie isn't visiting since 5 out the last 9 times, he has cancelled last minute (most recently because he couldn't be arsed get out of bed). I would not accept that disrespect from anyone else, not accepting it from him either. He needs to learn accountability and consequence.

What kinda shithousery is this... My PS+ Essential renewal is due on Jan 23rd and will cost me £49.99 for the next 12 months. Sony are currently offering a 30% discount on PS+ Extra, meaning it only cost's £49.99 for the next 12 months. Naturally, I deduce that I may as well get PS+ Extra, rather than PS+ Essentials since the cost is currently the same. So, I paid the £1.03 to upgrade my existing subscription to PS+ Extra, and now it won't let me extend it for the next 12 months for the additional £49.99... it's making me wait until my renewal on Jan 23rd instead, at which point the 30% discount offer will have expired, and it will cost me £83.99! What a crock 🤬

As frustrated as I am about Sony blocking me from getting PS+ Extra for £49.99, you'd have to be mad to not think it offers decent value for money if you're going to pay for Essentials regardless. Some really solid titles are included and for only an extra £34 p/a, it's a bargain really. That said, I already have a huge backlog of titles to play which increases every month, without giving myself access to 100's of additional games to play, so I'll be sticking to PS+ Essential this time around.

At work talking to the cleaner about my frustration over how compliance has shifted focus toward nonsense like ESG rather than actual industry specific areas. Her stance was that ESG is beneficial because we should be chasing Net Zero due to Climate Change; my counterargument was that the combined efforts of Western citizens are still totally undermined by corporate carbon emissions in Asia, notably China. This devolved into a pointless back and forth where I stated that the inconvenience of lifestyle changes was seemingly not worth it for reducing my personal carbon footprint, and she argued that we should lead by example even if it feels utterly futile. I said that was nonsense, and akin to pointless virtue signalling. She disagreed. I pointed out that she uses a diesel van to carry her gigging equipment all over the UK which isn't environmentally friendly and flies in the face of reducing her carbon footprint. She said that she'd looked into getting an electric van but it wasn't cost effective. I pointed out the hypocrisy in that statement; it's not about being cost effective remember, it's about the environment and leading by example even if you're personally inconvenienced? The conversation abruptly ended. Ironically, according to the WWF Carbon Footprint Calculator, I'm below average anyway (likely because I walk everywhere).

Had a pretty good day with Char now I've stopped trying to steer him onto the right path since it's utterly pointless. He's been telling me all about smoking weed at school with his classmates, drinking alcohol in the streets, about the £130 Airsoft pistol his Mum bought him for Xmas, and about how he likes watching Blacked porn. He is 13yrs old. I was reassured that he isn't worried about the future, because his teacher is allegedly going to open a college and university for him to attend, and then he's going to have a job being a teacher after. He was telling me about how his school take him to the gym now at Wallace Sports Centre, and how he's already losing weight. Then we went around the shop and he spent over £8 on a pizza, pepperami, chicken balls, a tub of Pringles and an energy drink. Really good food for weight loss. I told him he should quit vaping if he wants to be healthy too; he disagreed, so I left it. I'm over arguing about the inconsistencies, the contradictions, and the absurdity of it all. The entire situation is utterly banal to me. We went down the park for a bit but had to come back as he was tired since he usually sleeps during the day so that he can do his online gaming all night. We sat and watched Green Street together, which was his choice since he has a penchant for violence. Que sera sera.

I have finally mustered up the courage and decided that tonight after work, I am going to begin playing Persona 5. For clarity, I bought this game on January 14th 2020... so over 3yrs ago, and it's sat patiently waiting for me to play it ever since. There are certain games that intimidate me; title's that are unending and will consume my entire existence such as World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV and most other MMORPG's... hell, even Genshin Impact. Then there are another class of sprawling games that take 100+ hours to complete but are not sandboxes, so you cannot just go back to experience the things you've missed on your run; Persona 5 falls hard into this group. The story unfolds in Persona 5 as you make your choices, each of which locks you into an ever restricting path toward completion. If you miss something, it's gone for this playthrough. As a player, I hate knowing there are aspects of a game, the FOMO of missions, characters, dialogues that I never got to experience. But also, when the game is 100+ hours long, I am not motivated to "replay" it to choose differently and see how the narrative changes. Nonetheless, after 3yrs, I concede it's time I just stop being a little bitch and play the fucking game! 🎮

Just watched The Banshees of Inisherin and found it both hauntingly tragic, and at the same time undeniably gripping. Though clearly a metaphor for the civil war, the theme of an unexpectedly severed friendship is very unsettling. Diversity does not feel organic when you have a singular representation of every possible ethnicity in a frame; the pride of being represented is overshadowed by the inauthentic context which feels fake and shallow. It reduces representation to a box ticking exercise which undermines the entire point of encouraging diversity; this is not a realistic portrayal of the interconnected lives of diverse demographics. Nobody wants to feel like the 'token', let alone everybody.

The new Sam Smith video is repugnant; it's not homophobic, transphobic, or kink-shaming to reject, nay outright condemn, the foisting of fetish onto children. Introducing complex sexual fantasies to impressionable children will undoubtedly confuse and malform their sexual identity before it's even begun to develop. I used to take Lysh to Pride because I felt it was important for her to understand and tolerate the spectrum of sexual preference; I stopped taking her a few years ago since the event had descended into people parading in BDSM gear, with phallic attachments, or dressed up as dogs and such like. I don't feel comfortable exposing her to such extreme kink, fetish or deviancy at such a young age, and I deplore music videos that thrust this type of content in front of children. All music video's should be rated U. #LGBWithoutTheT
