Kiddo comes back from Laches Wood around lunch time today, excited to see her later 😁 in her absence I've hammered Persona 5 this week, binged loads of TV shows, and got through a good chunk of Atlas Shrugged too. Had a new PC at work. Tez, Moz & Stace are currently in Iceland ticking off my bucket list 😒 no footy this week due to insufficient players, and I have already been forewarned that Charlie isn't visiting again this weekend; both him and Dawn have Covid according to my Mum 💁♂️ ngl, schadenfreude that I was berated over not getting any of the jabs, and yet I've only had Covid once, meanwhile people on their 3+ boosters catch it over and over... 🤡🤐

Just arguing with the cleaner at work because she's told me I should have updated my address with the Doctors when I moved house as now I may be outside the catchment area. I said I cba with it since I haven't been there in years anyway and I've had the same doctor since I was a kid, so don't see the point in making work for myself. She starts insisting that I should change doctors and that it's not difficult to do, so I played the game:
👱: "So how would I change Doctors then?"
👧: "You'd just pop in to reception and get a form and speak to them."
👱: "And when are the Doctors open?"
👧: "All week usually."
👱: "Office hours? So when I'm at work?"
👧: "Yeah, but some are open until 6pm."
👱: "So I'd need to be paying for a taxi from work, or booking time off?"
👧: "They may be open on a Saturday too."
👱: "Oh, drag Ilysha up there with me at the weekend?"
👧: *walking away* "You're just making up excuses now!"

A brief explanation of the Silicon Valley Bank crash. Due to COVID, a lot of investors threw money at tech startups trying to help solve emerging problems relating to the pandemic; those startups then deposited the cash into the Silicon Valley Bank. The Silicon Valley Bank then lent a lot of that freshly deposited cash as long-term securities to the federal government (US Treasuries) and home owners (mortgage-backed securities). These long-term securities would have a higher overall yield, but the returns on investment would take longer to surface. As interest rates rose, the amount of new deposits decreased rapidly causing a shortfall in liquidity for the Silicon Valley Bank. The market value of the long-term securities they had invested in also plummeted, because short-term securities had comparable or even favourable yields. This effectively left Silicon Valley Bank without any cash as they had invested it, and a lot of IOU's that they could not cash out for a long time. When the startups try to withdraw the cash they deposited, Silicon Valley don't have the money available to give them because it's all tied up in long-term securities.

Another frustrating conversation with kiddo about gender and sexuality that ended in tears and tantrums 🤦🏼♂️ I'd always thought the birds and the bee convo was a straight forward explanation of what goes where and why... not this insanity! 😫 I'm sure social conditioning and premature exposure have nothing to do with "most" of kiddo's class identifying as members of LGBT+ according to Lysh! Not me, and probably not her either... 🙄🤦🏼♂️
