Since it's my work xmas do tonight, figured I'd opt for an earlyish night at 11pm and stock up on sleep. Lol. Life mocked that decision when my little princess had me back up from half 1 until almost 3 with all manor of complaints from needing lip balm for a bad lip, cough medicine for a sore throat, her foot was hurting , complaining she had tummy ache, wanted a drink cause she was thirsty and needing the toilet twice. Thankfully I've managed to snooze on the sofa this morning to compensate somewhat but still, ugh lol. Least she is back to her usual self today.

Just need to take a moment to be real serious about something that really fucking bothers me - after a close pal of mine lost a child earlier this year after they were hit by a car, I do not find any "bantz" about wreckless driving, drink driving or speeding around residential estates cool, funny or impressive. If you can't be trusted to take driving seriously then you shouldn't fucking drive. Simple as. Every time you get behind the wheel of a vehicle you are accepting responsibility for whatever happens as a result - think about how "cool" you'll look to your mates if you're responsible for the death of a child. The dismissive "it won't happen to me" isn't a valid point of view with something so serious, nor is reassuring yourself that you're the best driver in the world because you've never had an accident, yet. Yet. Don't be a dickhead driver. Easy as that.

I hate when people post the locations of speed camera vans on here, it's like saying: "yeah, awesome bro, go break the speed limit and risk your own safety and the safety of everyone around you - I'll help you not get caught out breaking the law. After all, I'm sure they just pluck speed limits out the air, I'm fairly certain you can trust my opinion, going 60mph in a 40mph is perfectly safe". Here is a dead simple way to make the location of speed camera vans irrelevant and it'll blow your mind I'm sure... ready for this bombshell? Don't go over the speed limit. OMG. Crazy ain't it!? Who would've thought it?!!

Christmas isn't the same when you are older, the magic isn't there and your sense of wonder is replaced with a sense of 'omg ffs not enough hours in a day'. I am not feeling festive whatsoever at the moment... but then again in my current circumstances, Christmas Eve to me is just another night, and Christmas Day is just another day until my Princess arrives at 6pm.

Just a word of warning in the unlikely event there is a heatwave overnight: the pavement and roads are utterly fucking treacherous at the moment - I nearly went arse over tit a couple of times heading home tonight so be aware if you're heading out anywhere tomorrow that you should probably opt to wear ice skates instead of your usual footwear.

With over 146hrs under my belt and damn near all unique content exhausted, I feel content now to call it a day on Witcher 3. I cannot understate how much of a masterpiece this title truly is; after choosing it on a whim, it consumed me into captivating worlds, engaging emotional plots and one of the solidest character growths I have ever experienced. Quite possibly the single best game I have ever played.

Okay so little buggo has been picked up by her Mum now, and despite coming back to tell me she loves me and that she will see me next Friday (which melted my heart), I now have a free night ahead... I'm about to crack open some alcohol for the first time properly since Xmas officially began, and now need to decide which game to play since drawing a line under Witcher 3... Assassins Creed Syndicate or Batman Arkham Knight I think... although Skyrim HD, FFXV and TES Online are also here begging me to play them!

I don't do NY Resolutions as such, but next year I need to change something majorly in my life, because I have lost interest in pretty much everything besides my kids, my family and my job. As I sit here alone looking at old photos and sipping cognac, I realise that friendships that once meant the world to me have faded away and never really been replaced. I realise I have grown so used to isolation that I have no real interest in social events anymore, and no desire for a relationship or intimacy either. The longer I spend in solitude, the more I convince myself I don't need anyone else and my introversion cements further. It's unhealthy. I have sacrificed so much to avoid heartache that I am emotionally numb to almost everything. I understand it all perfectly; I can see how my choices and decisions over the past decade have orchestrated this outcome. The heavy abuse of alcohol and drugs, the subsequent changes in my social circles and loss of good friends, the road to recovery which I handled by isolating myself further, and then the introduction of Ilysha into my life and the further alienation resulting from prioritising her above all else. I have done such a good job of shielding myself from hurt, that I push people away or fail to keep them in the fold, then use it as affirmation when they fade away that I am better off alone. It doesn't even faze me these days, I just cross them off the imaginary list in my head like "there goes another one, oh well, nothing new there". As a coping mechanism I simply bury myself further in my work, or rely too heavily on Ilysha and Charlie for a sense of fulfillment and purpose. To all the friends I've grown apart from, I am sorry for neglecting our friendships; and to any females I've let close, only to then push hard away, I am sorry for not feeling secure enough to let down my guard fully. The problems really are mine; it's the person I've let myself become over the last decade. There is a beautiful strength and freedom in isolation, but also a chasm of emptiness and numbness that eats away behind closed doors. xo

It's been an odd year from the global highlights of Pokemon Go, Killer Clowns, Toblerone, self installing Windows 10, Samsungs exploding Note 7, the Zika virus, Brexit, Trump, McGregor, Honey G, Scarlett Moffatt, Top Gear, Syria, Westworld, Stranger Things, Negan... to that horrendous list of celebrity departures including Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, Prince, George Michael, Terry Wogan, Victoria Wood, David Gest, Ronnie Corbett, magician Paul Daniels, Father Jack off Father Ted, Maester Aemon Targaryen, Manuel off Fawlty Towers, Nana and Denise off Royle Family, Princess Leia, Willy Wonka, Severus Snape, Pete Burns, Leonard Cohen, the dude who invented Red Solo Cups, and the guy who invented Kinder Eggs... plus in my own world we had the tragic loss of Kayden which is more influential than any other name on the list... here is hoping that 2017 brings less heartbreak and headaches, and that next New Year we can reflect under more positive circumstances ♥ - all the best for 2017 everyone, friends, family and strangers alike ♥
