Monthly Musings: September 2019

An overview of opinions and observations for the month.

Every time I let my guard down, people remind me why I shouldn't. Just focus on yourself, don't fall for the illusion that people care; they don't. Reason I stay in airplane mode, off the radar most the time. Just do you. Ignore everyone. Be selfish. Only person who is there when it all turns to shit is yourself; don't expect anyone else to help pick up the pieces when it all falls apart.

We are all insignificant grains of sand on an infinite cosmic beach; our lives essentially irrelevant. I find it liberating to know that when my life here is over, the memory of me will wash away in time. My only contribution to the world is what I do now. The love and positivity I can spread to those around me. So savour each moment, cherish the small victories, appreciate everyone. Life is beautiful. We are beautiful. And above all else, be happy πŸ’•

At a Portuguese bar. Mozambique dip. I make a joke about Mozam Beak Dip. Proceed to snort some. Instant regret. Nose is on fire. Awesome.

Get back from Lisbon a little late after being stuck in traffic on the M1. Been a long day. Ilysha runs up the street to me and bursts into tears saying she's missed me. Melted my heart πŸ’—

In life there are no second chances, there are no recounts, there are no replays... so give it everything you've got, and when you've got nothing left to give, when you've used up everything you have, every last piece of you... focus on whatever you hold dear, and give it even more. Be the best that you can be, nobody could ask for anything more. YOLO doesn't mean live like nothing matters, it means live like everything matters. πŸ’―

The fact remains, individual reform and consumer behavioural changes are beyond insufficient for redirecting Climate Change that is dominating global attention at present. "A recent report found that just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions since 1988. Incredibly, a mere 25 corporations and state-owned entities were responsible for more than half of global industrial emissions in that same period." Why is it that blame and attention is scapegoated onto the public with demands for reducing personal carbon footprints, as opposed to both barrels being firmly pointed at the huge companies that profit from the continued crisis? It's unprecedented that the public are blamed for a problem that clearly resides with corporations.

Sometimes we get so swept up in life and with our minor troubles and tribulations that we overlook all the good in our lives. The people we've met, places we've been, things we've experienced and memories we've made. Life truly is beautiful. Cherish it ♥️

Be sure you clear out your guttering before winter arrives guys and gals. Just had water leaking in through my kitchen ceiling 🀦🏻‍♂️

The world can seem a cruel, unforgiving and ugly place. We are the light; it is us who must light up the shadows with love, compassion and acceptance. Just be kind and gentle to everyone, even those who really don't deserve it. It really is that simple ♥️

You realise how spoiled your kid is, when it's less than 3 weeks until their 7th birthday and you cannot find/think of a single gift to get them 😐
