Monthly Musings: November 2022

An overview of opinions and observations for the month.

01/11/2022 @10:01
After a fantastic few weeks, I strongly doubt November can match the high bar set by October.

02/11/2022 @00:17
This year I will be partaking in 'No-No-Nut-November' ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ฆ also Movember, by basically being a lazy fuck and not shaving at all - hobo mode enabled! ๐Ÿง”

02/11/2022 @09:31
Frustrating that once again my phone is doing that bizarre thing where you put it on charge, and the battery rapidly drains! Really need the battery replacing, but I'm also very dubious about handing my phone over to some sketchy high street store to resolve. Trust is difficult when you know about technology. ๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ“‰

02/11/2022 @23:53
At times, Unravel is as frustrating as it is beautiful.

03/11/2022 @08:34
Someone on Hanley Road has Christmas decorations up in their front window already. What even is life? ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŽ„

03/11/2022 @14:02
Denji's entire motivation in life is tits, and I gotta respect that level of commitment ๐Ÿ˜‚ #ChainsawMan

03/11/2022 @23:11
Not my proudest moment, overreacting at Powerleague with a retaliatory hacking down of Wintle. Now we're at Hem Heath, and they have a fucking Christmas tree up. What the fuck... ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŽ„

05/11/2022 @09:44
Today's debate; Ilysha is convinced that writing her name in French means needing to write "Eeeeleegrekessashah" whereas I'm convinced she's just writing down French phonetics that have absolutely fuck all to do with written language.

05/11/2022 @09:49
Frog just brushed her teeth without prompt! ๐Ÿคฏ someone call an ambulance, there's defo something up with her! ๐Ÿš‘

05/11/2022 @16:00
Current mood; Frog is losing her temper with me and getting upset because I don't believe she has watched 14hrs of footage in real time, in 3 seconds of viewing. She's arguing that she has. Despite the fact it's actually impossible.

05/11/2022 @21:13
Attended the Fenton Firework display with Sammie, Zack, Aimee & Kie ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽ‡ One of the highlights was Sam accidently queue jumping, and then almost scrapping with some woman who vocalised her disapproval ๐Ÿ˜‚ And now we're in the Moorland having a couple drinks ๐Ÿป

Tradition dictates I watch 'V for Vendetta' tonight. ["On this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V."]

As I make serious headway through The Lady of the Lake, the news that Cavill is stepping away from the Netflix series of Witcher is of significance. It appears the underlying reason for this is the lack of faithfulness to the source material, which is very telling since Cavill is a huge fan of the Witcher franchise. There is a theme of mainstream showrunners shitting all over adaptations, largely because the writers choose to promote their own ideologies and woke nonsense, branching away from the authors own vision of their work. [https://www.change.org/p/netflix-you-must-keep-henry-cavill-as-the-witcher-and-replace-the-writers-instead]

Charlie claims his Mum is buying him £500 worth of fishing stuff (rod/tackle etc) next week because he's been fishing once and really enjoyed it. He's also been banned off Rec Room for a year because he's been harassing homosexuals and making Nazi salutes. Oh, and he's been smoking weed at school, because his classmates sometimes bring a spliff with them... ๐Ÿ˜

06/11/2022 @13:53
Currently watching Big Mouth. Who is the target audience for this perverted trash? It's wildly inappropriate for kids/teens, and utterly cringey/noncey for adults. Why would any adult want to watch animated school kids wanking and fucking etc? And why would any adult want their teenage kid watching content about incest, fetish, kink, and all manner of other depraved sexual practices including bestiality and necrophilia? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฏ

06/11/2022 @21:17
Finally got the homebrew Wii working again. Either the power supply for the external HDD which holds all the game files is failing, or the HDD itself is. Backed up the 57 games of interest onto my PC, and wrote a couple back to a USB Key to check if GX Loader would recognise them which it did ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’…

We justify revenge by framing it in our minds as justice; but in truth, our conscience knows any revenge is simply undertaken from spite and malice. ["For through his innate stupidity the latter looks upon his revenge as justice pure and simple; while in consequence of his acute consciousness the mouse does not believe in the justice of it." - Notes from Underground]

Bitter taste upon realising I've not written any Lightfade since June ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿฅบ

07/11/2022 @15:45
I have a very sad mouth today. After biting the inside of my cheek a week ago, I now have this to contend with... yay, ulcers! ๐Ÿ˜‘

07/11/2022 @17:18
As someone who suffers from FOMO on Social Media platforms and has/had accounts on Myspace, Bebo, 4chan, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Tagged, MeetMe, MyYearbook, Formspring, Yeti, Whisper, Lyf, Snapchat, TikTok, Nextdoor, Telegram, Signal, Gab, Parler, GETTR, Truth Social... now what the fuck is this Mastodon!? ๐Ÿ™„

08/11/2022 @13:11
The dildo of consequence rarely arrives lubed. It surely didn't today. After being awake off-and-on all night with toothache in the same fucking tooth as 6-months ago, I overslept. Awaking at 09:04, I messaged Dave to tell him I was going to be late. Next thing, I'm getting notifications from other employees; it seems a power outage overnight has taken the site offline. And here's me running massively late. Get to work, and sure enough, it's all gone to shit. Living the dream mate, living the fucking dream... ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

08/11/2022 @16:18
"If you would like us to call you back, press 1, alternatively please continue to hold for the next available advisor." Tell you what I'd like Quadient, I'd like for you to answer the fucking phone. I've been listening to hold music for 68 minutes now.

08/11/2022 @19:18
To top off this awesome day, Frog is breaking her heart on video call because her Mum & Stepdad are breaking up so she's losing her stepsister Izzie too ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ฉ today can proper just fuck itself off!

08/11/2022 @20:38
The reality of the situation is kicking in. The standard of living at Frog's home is about to nosedive. Her Mum works part-time uncommon hours, 6 miles away from where she lives, and has just lost her primary mode of transport since Ash has taken his car when he left. The car, which is also the way Frog gets to and from mine at weekends (I've already noted the bus timetables). I'm failing to see how her Mum will afford to run a semi-detached house, support Lysh, and also her two pet dogs, Ted and Nala, on a part-time beauticians wage during a 'cost of living crisis'. ๐Ÿ˜ I'm sure however that this was all considered before any rash action was undertaken, and that I'm worrying unnecessarily...

08/11/2022 @22:34
Randomly remembered that today is the Blood Moon lunar eclipse... ["expected to be a period of chaos and upheavals. In terms of astrology, the four governing planets in focus are Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Uranus, making it a period of chaos and twisted ends which can compel you to make hasty decisions and feel insecure, especially when it comes to relationships."] Perhaps a little comfort to be found yet: ["Money matters take centre stage for Aries. While you might see great financial fluctuations, you can also find options for savings and plan your expenses accordingly, as well as come across new money-making ways to ring in prosperity. It can be quite a hurricane period, but once the dust settles down, you will be in a stable position."] And for myself: ["Virgo, an Earth sign, is quite grounded and always tends to feel secure around close ones. But, during this Blood Moon, you might feel an urge of insecurity and would want to be cautious"]

09/11/2022 @09:11
Really just wanna cuddle Frog this morning, and reassure her that everything is gonna be okay. We get through these difficult times with love and compassion. Even if there is heartache, disruption and inconvenience in the short term, we will be okay. Love you most, bug ๐Ÿค

09/11/2022 @16:32
Ree has borrowed her Mum's car for now, so at least that's one thing less to worry about as she can drop bug off on Friday ๐Ÿ™Œ

09/11/2022 @
In a rare moment of reprieve during this otherwise calamitous week...

09/11/2022 @23:40
Confirmed with Frog's Mum earlier that for the foreseeable future, we're back to relying on buses to get her home. Hello darkness my old friend, it's been a couple years since I had to compete with your bullshit! ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿš

10/11/2022 @10:11
Another year without you Ricky ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿป

10/11/2022 @11:20
Whenever I am helping Marie with stuff (like currently with arranging temporary insurance on her Mum's car) I cannot help but feel like a mug. Frustrated at my own willingness to oblige. After all the shit I went through in the past because of her (for which she has never apologised or shown any remorse whatsoever), schadenfreude would be justified. It should be cathartic. Alas, it is not. I cannot find any pleasure in her misfortune, despite the fact that I really wish that I could. It is strange to acknowledge, but I wish I could be a more vindictive and spiteful person at times.

10/11/2022 @19:28
What now? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿคจ ["Dear Homeowner, We notice that you have recently reduced the sale price of your property"] I swear if I get a Section 21 saying they're selling the house from under me, I'm going to lose my shit. Yesterday I buy a game called "Gone Home" and next thing my "Home" may be "Gone". Fate is not without irony.

10/11/2022 @23:43
Well getting absolutely drubbed at footy is just in keeping with the theme of the week tbf ๐Ÿ™„⚽

11/11/2022 @08:38
Can't even get my free Greggs sausage roll today since O2 Priority is down... ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ™„ ["In a statement, O2 said: "We’re seeing unprecedented demand for Peter Kay tickets & we know a lot of you can’t access Priority. Sorry, we’re working on it. "Please be patient; this is by far the highest demand we’ve ever seen for Priority Tickets in 15 years. The presale lasts for 48h so keep checking."]

12/11/2022 @08:11
Frog is in a WhatsApp group with friends from school. Says she doesn't know how she was added. I reply that one of her friends will have added her. Apparently not, because the group Admin is Evie who hasn't got her number. So I says that one of her other friends must have given Evie her number so she could be added. Frog gets snappy telling me that is not the case. So I conclude that the only other possibility is that magically she's just been added randomly, and conveniently to her friends WhatsApp group. She agrees. Fortunately she hasn't been magically added to any other WhatsApp groups with people she doesn't know... ๐Ÿ™„

12/11/2022 @15:51
Been Dimensions with Frog. Whilst we were there, there was a group of tween girls in the rapids behind us... one come out with "I've lost my goggles!" to which her mate retorted, "I don't care, you just popped my tit out!" ๐Ÿ˜‚

12/11/2022 @19:11
Frog on video chat with her mate. "Why not go show Evie your bedroom", I suggest. "No Dad, my bedroom is crap." Oh, right. Glad I've spent a few hundred quid making it nicer for you in the last few months. Fuck me and my effort I guess... ๐Ÿ˜

12/11/2022 @21:32
I don't think I've been giving this FTX collapse enough critical scrutiny. $8bn leverage bubble popped. Looks seriously sketchy. Sam Bankman-Fried has some serious questions to answer... [https://ambcrypto.com/ftt-collapse-post-mortem-how-ftx-was-led-by-kids-with-no-experience/]

13/11/2022 @18:32
Today has been a good day, thank fuck! ๐Ÿ™Œ been a lovely day gaming with Frog on Bloxburg, then we've baked Stained Glass Chocolate Cookies for her classmates, and then to top it off, I think them pair have actually kissed and made up since they've just picked Frog up in Ash's car! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™

13/11/2022 @23:54
Just played through Gone Home in a single 90-minute sitting and found the narrative quite endearing and heartfelt. A quaint and emotional jaunt through a mansion of memories.

14/11/2022 @19:01
Frog has gone the youth club, so I'm going Long Rest with Moz, T & Stace ๐ŸŽฒ๐Ÿป

14/11/2022 @19:16
And those plans have already died a quick death since Long Rest is fully booked for tonight ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ˆ

14/11/2022 @23:48
Just played through 'Last Day of June' in one sitting. Groundhog Day of heartbreak. Damn, powerful narrative does not require realistic graphics or even dialogue. I did not even realise until the very end what I was building towards; the quintessential revelation of the purest kind of love and sacrifice ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅฐ

15/11/2022 @10:32
Unapologetically me.

15/11/2022 @14:24
Chonkyfire Swag Juice about to cost me £5... ๐Ÿ˜‚ ["I have no idea what I'm doing I have no idea what I'm doing..."]

15/11/2022 @16:18
I don't care how little profit you settle for, if you're a scalper, then you're a scumbag. My mate says a 20% mark-up is reasonable, I disagree; rushing to buy something that you don't want/need, simply so that you can profit off people who do want/need it is just scummy behaviour tbh. Then acting like a hero for it is borderline comical. "Oh thank you for rushing to buy more tickets than you needed,  meaning that I couldn't buy them direct from Ticket Master as they had sold out, and then charging me more than the original price to buy them off you instead! Thank you! My hero!" ๐Ÿฅด I'm still pissed off that Peter Kay ticket pre-sale on Priority crashed the app so I couldn't get my free sausage roll last week! ๐Ÿคฌ

16/11/2022 @23:52
Hundred Days is actually so chill and relaxing, it's absurd. I'm admittedly a sucker for these tycoon type games, but launching a hugely profitable vineyard and winery is a new twist on the genre!

17/11/2022 @11:02
Today's August Budget brings with it a shock revelation that a litany of terrible decisions have led to the economic hardship and healthcare disaster unfolding in Britain. Who'd have thunk it? ๐Ÿคก Never before has the Government been so humiliatingly, and publicly exposed to their constituents hubris; now more than ever, the public closely monitor what our leaders are (or aren't) doing, and hold them to account. Allegedly at least... ๐Ÿคซ I voted for Brexit and conceded that there would be an impact on the economy in the short-to-mid term, but I accepted it as a worthwhile trade-off for regaining the control, independence and sovereignty of our country. Many hard-line Remainers are now compelled to blame Brexit solely for the current state of the country... ๐Ÿ™„ It is my view however that the Government's reckless responses to Covid, Net Zero, and Ukraine are predominantly to blame for our situation. The Truss Mini-Budget debacle didn't help either... ๐Ÿคฏ Regardless of who or what is to blame, we are all equally fucked, and the only option left is thus: Keep calm, and have a cold, dark, hungry, poor Christmas. Bah humbug ๐ŸŽ…

17/11/2022 @15:55
My estate agent have reassuring confirmed now that my Landlord is not selling the house. Thank fuck. It is utterly absurd to realise however, that as a reward for being a hardworking member of society, I am not entitled to any secure long-term housing (council/housing association). If I was unemployed or on benefits, I would be. Instead I will spend my life living with the prospect of being kicked out my home on two-months notice forever, unless I get a mortgage. Go me!

17/11/2022 @17:12
I still have no idea what I'm doing, but the initial Chonkyfire XI has been finalised:

17/11/2022 @22:26
Another humiliating, unenjoyable night getting absolutely decimated at football which ended with me spitting out my tampon and ending the match. Over it. Paying for the luxury of being cold, wet, tired, aching and having nothing to show for it besides embarrassment. Still trying to understand why it kept seeming like Bay was left to mark T? Inane. Must be a glutton for punishment after last week...

17/11/2022 @23:52
At least one positive came from tonight, I ran into Carney on his doorstep and ended up having a good catch up on his sofa for an hour or so.

18/11/2022 @09:54
Soaked to the skin from walking to work in the rain. My phone battery doing that discharge nonsense again where you put it on charge, and the battery goes down instead of up. Network at work is having issues and I need reset the LAN switches... at least I've got my fucking Greggs sausage roll today! ๐Ÿ™Œ

18/11/2022 @12:47
John Ray, new CEO and chief restructuring officer for FTX, is quoted as saying: "Never in my career have I seen such a complete failure of corporate controls and such a complete absence of trustworthy financial information as occurred here. From compromised systems integrity and faulty regulatory oversight abroad, to the concentration of control in the hands of a very small group of inexperienced, unsophisticated and potentially compromised individuals, this situation is unprecedented."

18/11/2022 @13:02
The other day he's mingeing that he may need to get a second job because he doesn't earn enough money. Today he's eating a £9 kebab from the Continental Market... ๐Ÿ˜

18/11/2022 @14:41
Let's laugh at how wrong my predictions are in the future.

19/11/2022 @16:14
Nice busy day with Frog, playing Bloxburg, crafting a Nezuko bamboo gag, and making another batch of chocolate biscuits ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค

19/11/2022 @22:37
Been a nice evening at Brindley Farm catching up with the cousins from down under, Fiona and Courtney. A nice cheeky carvery, a couple of drinks, and spending time with family ❤

Just wrapped up The Office [US] and have to say, the finale had a doozy of a 4th wall break. Looking at the cast list trying to see just how many cameos and big names had been in it, and saw Creed Bratton is played by... Creed Bratton? I was like, what? So I looked into who he is: "a member of the popular rock group The Grass Roots in the 1960s" - "parted ways with the band in 1970, but continued his passion and has released six solo albums up to the present day.  He was cast in "The Office" doing a parody of his life as a former rock star.". But wait, there's more! The finale mentions that the day after the documentary aired, Creed faked his own death using the baler in the warehouse to evade the police who had warrants out for his arrest from his years as a member of The Grass Roots. But wait, there is even more! In the final minutes, the Nard Dog says: "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them. Someone should write a song about that." Relevance, you ask? I read a book earlier this year called "Pachinko" by Min Jin Lee. It was made into an Apple TV+ series, and it aired a few months ago. The intro theme song was "The Grass Roots - Live For Today". It's the band Creed Bratton was in... and the song is about making the most of the good old days before they pass - by living for today. Incredible writing ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜

20/11/2022 @17:18
Knocked out this cute little game, 'Alba - A Wildlife Adventure' in a single 3hr sitting.

20/11/2022 @23:54
Ended up going out again to spend time with Courtney and family whilst she's in England. Highlights of the night included Moorland Inn calling last orders at 20:30, after which we relocated to the Green Star where on the opposite end of the spectrum, we had a lock-in which included the worlds longest and most appalling game of pool with Courtney playing against Sam, Emma, and Laura as a joint effort. Courtney still won. Conversations included an attempted suicide, a miscarriage, planned hernia operation, and a convicted rapist. Life is nothing if not tragically and darkly consistent. Not sure where those bogans are off next, but I'm going to bed now.

21/11/2022 @10:23
The Qatar World Cup is the next Fyre Festival, pass it on. Those £175 per night tents in the fan village are an embarrassment.

21/11/2022 @22:35
Spirit of the North is a visually gorgeous game, massively failed by it's clunky controls, and it's total absence of handholding which leaves the player adrift with no idea wtf they are supposed to be doing.

22/11/2022 @08:14
Reading that Rick Grimes popped back up in The Walking Dead finale has vindicated my belief that the writers never had the balls to kill off characters who had overstayed their welcome.

A cheeky Steam purchase for my day off tomorrow! Firewatch with a 75% discount, go on then! ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ˜

24/11/2022 @11:34
And again, to reiterate, all I heard was how 'lives were more important than money' as a catch-all justification for decimating the economy on the assumption that lockdowns were the only option available. ["The lockdowns of 2020 resulted in the UK’s worst recession in the history of industrial capitalism – a fall in economic output not seen since the Great Frost of 1709. At the time, we were told that this didn’t matter. Rock-bottom interest rates and drunken money printing sustained the illusion that the economy was fine. ‘Building back better’ was not just a hollow slogan, it would be ‘the most likely outcome’ after lockdown, the experts assured us. Since lockdown ended, GDP has recovered somewhat, but we are now saddled with rampant inflation, with prices rising at their fastest rate in 40 years. Central banks are desperately trying to tame inflation by hiking interest rates and with ‘quantitative tightening’ – a 180-degree reversal on their pandemic policies. The bill for the printed money is finally here."][https://www.spiked-online.com/2022/11/23/the-grand-folly-of-lockdown-is-coming-home-to-roost/] The turkeys voted for Christmas, and now it's come home to roost.

Crazy to see it in black and white, knowing I've whittled it down to only £1,462 left to pay.

Fun day spent on Minecraft with bug ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค

26/11/2022 @19:02
And a not so fun day spent arguing with people who have the audacity to slag you off, then try to play the victim when you respond in kind! Pot. Kettle. Black. No sign of a forthcoming apology, or attempt to justify their behaviour - instead, finger pointing and accusations that I've been part of a 'hate campaign'! I'd been happy to turn a blind eye to the unsavoury comments, at the end of the day she's entitled to her own opinions - but to then try to drag me into the unfolding drama that has arisen as a direct result of her own actions - and moreover, deflect taking responsibility by trying to change the focus onto stuff I've said in response... the fucking gall of it! So much hypocrisy and inconsistency, it's baffling. I'm not being dragged into it. Nope. What's good for the goose is good for the gander; she felt slagging me off behind my back was perfectly fine, so touchรฉ! ๐Ÿคฌ

27/11/2022 @18:14
Not about scrambling around last minute to arrange an alternate venue! Step aside Cherry Tree, we're going to Gosto's Grill!

27/11/2022 @22:42

Lysh has fell out with her mate Ivy, who is now "ruining her life" (her words) by turning everyone against her at school, bullying her, and threatening that her Dad is going to beat me up, run over her house in a lorry etc. Best of all, her Dad does not seem like the kind of guy who would be receptive to a polite request to have a word with his daughter. Living the dream.

28/11/2022 @23:38
Another short PC title bashed out in a single few hour sitting; Across The Grooves. Very interesting narrative journey through the general history of music, delving into the occult, and even segueing into bizarre subgenres like Zeuhl, all told through a fragmented, ever evolving timeline.

Sent Ree a link to school anti-bullying form earlier and Lysh tells me the teachers made her & Ivy sit down and have a chat , basically told them they need to be friends. Hopefully that's the end of it. She's been in good spirits tonight playing on Roblox ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค

Started something a bit meatier tonight, finally began The Witcher: Enhanced Edition... and tbf it's not actually as awful as I expected. When you've played a sequel before playing the original, you often find it unplayable; that's the issue I had when I tried to play Oblivion after already falling in love with Skyrim... and given my obsession with the Wild Hunt, I was worried I would abandon The Witcher almost immediately out the gate... however, it's actually aged pretty well, and I suspect I'll play it right through to completion. Pleasantly surprised! ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿบ - for comparison, though...

Since I've got today off work, figured I may as well do something productive! I've donated all Lysh's stuff she no longer uses/needs to Sav/Lowen/Charity, gifted the balloon arch to Luce two doors up for Darcy's bday tomorrow, then I've treated my big sister to a nice meal at the Moorland ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿด๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿป

That's what a day off should be like... spent the rest of the day gaming ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿบ & watching Willow and Preacher ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ˜ no fucks given, stress free livin'!
