One of the main things I wanted to address in 2022 was my unhealthy relationship with alcohol; in January, I drank alcohol on 15 days out of the 31 available. That is not a healthy ratio. On February 1st, I went to Turtle Bay to celebrate my sister Sammie's birthday and got incredibly drunk; the following day I consciously decided to stop drinking for the time being and let myself detox. My sobriety lasted 66 days. On April 9th, I was out with family celebrating my brother Moz's birthday at the ROFL Comedy Club and got incredibly drunk again. I returned to my intent of not drinking alcohol thereafter, and went another 153 days sober. September 10th was the Celebration of Life for my Nan during which I participated in an alcoholic toast in her memory; it was only 50ml of Irish Cream, yet it was admittedly alcohol that I voluntarily consumed, and I reset my sobriety counter accordingly. I then went another 94 days sober until December 14th wherein I cracked open a bottle of Amaretto whilst wrapping presents as part of my Christmas tradition. I would anticipate I will continue consuming alcohol now in the coming weeks as I celebrate Christmas, but with the caveat that I do not intend to allow myself to get drunk. Time will tell however. Nevertheless, I am proud that I have managed to largely remain sober for the duration of 2022: in fact, on only 2 days out of a possible 315 did I consume any alcohol at all. I have really reconsidered my consumption habits this year, and I fully intend to carry this into 2023, and not revert to my previous heavy intake of alcohol. Cheers 🍻

Also spent a lot more money than intended. Got a taxi back at around 02:15 with Lea - a Public Hire wanted £30, but rang Magnum and it cost £11.70 instead - the mark-up is absurd. Went bed around 3am, got up about an hour ago feeling admittedly rough around the edges. Had a crazy nightmare where I arrived back from a trip, got a bus home and my backpack was nowhere to be found in the luggage compartment. Also my resting HR has spiked from a steady 60bpm to 65bpm in a matter of days since I resumed drinking alcohol 😐 Just an observation.
Stuck to non-alcoholic lager all night, and sprinkled in some shorts of spiced rum and cognac between. Oh, and Chris got me a shot of black sambuca. Speaking candidly, Christmas Day is upon us and I do not feel festive whatsoever 😓 Lysh no longer believes in Santa, Stay & Rich are both ill, T and Stace are up the hospital, Dad and Ang haven't even put any Xmas decorations up... I have only got a handful of presents under the tree from Mum, Stay & Moz, and I'm sat here alone, just feeling very meh tbh 😶

Can't lie, as much as I've enjoyed spending tonight with Frog, it's lacking that magic knowing that she has no interest in the traditional routine of the past decade. No leaving out reindeer food, no doing the carrot, milk and mince pie tray, there's been no Portable North Pole, no tracking Santa, no reading the usual Santa's On His Way To My House book... Just bed like any other night, ready for presents in the morning that she knows are from me, with snowy footprints she knows I have left, and a letter from Santa Claus, aka Dad 🎅😖 I want the wide eyed wonder back, the magic of pure, wholesome naivety! 🥺

My god these books are beautiful in every way. The story, the artwork, the paper texture, the embossed covers, the smell...
