Monthly Musings: June 2023

An overview of opinions and observations for the month.

Just imagine letting your O365 tenancy admin leave your company, without being 100% sure you have transferred access to the O365 Admin account to another user... and then when you try to recover the account the next day, the reset verification goes to the admin who has left meaning you are locked out of your own O365 tenancy admin account... 🀑🀯

Redemption at footy tonight, won by like 7 goals. Been Hem Heath after for a couple 0%'s, and hit a step count over 25k. It's been a good day.

"I'm getting old and I’ve worked hard all my life. I have made my reputation, the good and the bad, I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I have worked hard to get where I am in life. I have juggled my job, my family, and made many sacrifices up front to secure a life for my family. It wasn’t always easy and still isn't, but I did it all while maintaining my integrity and my principles. I made mistakes and tried to learn from them. I have friends of every walk of life and if you’re in my circle, it should be understood that I don’t have to remind you of what I’d be willing to do for you. However, I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. People who have sacrificed nothing and feel entitled to receive everything. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it themselves. I'm really tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which, no one is allowed to debate. I'm really tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talk like their opinions matter to the common man. I’m tired of any of them even pretending they can relate to the life and bank account that I have. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor. I’m upset that I’m labeled as a racist because I am proud of my heritage. I never stole any ones land, the government did that. I’m tired of being told I need to accept the latest fad or politically correct stupidity or befriending a group that’s intent on killing me because I won’t convert to their point of view. I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. Especially the ones that want me to fund it. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems. Yes, I'm really tired. But, I'm also glad to be in the twilight of my life. Because mostly, I'm not going to have to see the wretched, depressing world these young useless idiots are creating. And lastly, because even though I shouted from the rooftops, no one listened or seemed to give a damn. You reap what you sow, and so do your children. No one is entitled to anything. You have a choice to work, a choice to stay off drugs, a choice to make something of yourself. I have nothing to do with your choice. That's all on you. You are entitled to what you earn." ['Silent Majority' Facebook Letter shared by Pauline Hanson]

Another Friday night spent down the park πŸ˜… it's becoming a thing (and I am 100% here for it!). Fresh air, sunlight, nature, and exercise. With my favourite person. What more could I ask for? πŸ₯°

03/06/2023 @18:14
Lovely day with Lys again. We both had a Strawberries & Cream Frappucino from Starbucks, then been down Burslem Park in the sun. Nipped over to Vale Park to check out their "fun day" but only ended up grabbing ice creams (for £8.50 🀯) as it was a bit meh, and headed back to the park.

03/06/2023 @22:38
Proper developed a "summer cold" overnight. Can't stop sneezing and feel like I've swallowed razor blades. Gonna finish off watching Barry and playing this Doors Paradox, then get me sen off to bed I reckon.

04/06/2023 @13:25
Charlie hasn't visited as he has a migraine, so I've finally got around to watching Attack on Titan 'Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 1'... tears for Hange's sacrifice, and goddamn that ending... too good! 😲🀩

04/06/2023 @16:03
Decided get off my arse on this sunny day, and go for a run... πŸƒπŸΌ‍♂️ I know right!? So I had a wander down through Burslem Park (didn't even realise the dog show was on until I went past it) - down Hamil Road and across onto Federation Road, at which point I began jogging... and surprisingly managed to jog steadily all the way to Westport Lake! Grabbed a bottle of water from the Visitor Centre, then went for a timed run around the lake which came in at 0.8 miles in 7:04 which isn't tragic tbf, though I was dead after πŸ’€πŸ₯΅ Sat by the lake listening to Ben Howard under the burning sun, then had another leisurely wander around the lake, then walked back home up through Middleport, swerving by B&M to grab Lysh some more Yumsu Chicken Noodles on the way, then back up through Burslem Park 😁

05/06/2023 @13:50
Watching BoFuri S2 and wondering how blatantly they can rip-off Pokemon before they get sued πŸ˜‚

05/06/2023 @15:35
I am not transphobic, though I am openly concerned that the current promotion of LGBTQ+ values is actively encouraging confused children to associate and identify with labels which do not represent them. When I was a prepubescent child, my sexual orientation or gender identity were not even topics of interest, relevance or discussion; nowadays, they are a focal point of childrens lives, along with the normalisation of kink and depravity in mainstream, and I worry about the impact this will have on their development of identity as they grow up.

05/06/2023 @16:11
"We are simultaneously being told that gender differences do not exist and that genders are so profoundly different that irreversible surgery is the only option. Perhaps someone wiser than me can explain this dichotomy." - [Elon Musk]

05/06/2023 @23:22
Forgot how tragically beautiful the story of Gyutaro and Ume was in Demon Slayer 😩

06/06/2023 @08:12
That's Tenerife fully paid off, now to count down the days to mine & Lysh's first holiday abroad together! πŸ₯³

06/06/2023 @12:06
"How can you frighten a man whose hunger is not only in his own cramped stomach but in the wretched bellies of his children? You can't scare him - he has known a fear beyond every other." - [reading The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck]

07/06/2023 @19:12
Another amusing conversation with my Mum; once Charlie turns 18 he can be medicated for his anxiety... I says, you don't want him on antidepressants at 18 though... small disagreement ensues because apparently I'm wrong, and anxiety isn't treated with antidepressants - Dawn is on medication for her anxiety, so they know better than me. I query which medication: sertraline. An antidepressant. Brilliant. Later into the conversation, Charlie has a gum infection because he hasn't been brushing his teeth - but it's not his fault, it's that pesky PDA again!

08/06/2023 @08:14
Absolutely fucked it with the wrong clipper guard and now I have no beard πŸ˜…πŸ˜¬

08/06/2023 @23:20
Real barn burner at footy tonight! From being 11-6 up, to ending 12-12... everyone battled their arse off! ⚽ Saved plenty of shots I had no right to, then been Hem Heath for a couple 🍻

09/06/2023 @15:20
Very aware this afternoon of how little I socalise these days compared to the past πŸ€” maybe I should start drinking again? At least stop being such a stick in the mud with calorie counting and never treating myself to anything nice πŸ˜…

09/06/2023 @23:03
Another lovely night down the park with Lysh πŸ§—πŸΌ‍♀️πŸŒ† and now she's going for a bath at this ungodly hour πŸ›€πŸ˜‚ "Is that your boy on the climbing frame?" - "No, that's a full grown adult" πŸ˜‚

09/06/2023 @00:46
Lysh's eczema has flared up again, and her Mum has sourced this stuff that seems to be clearing it right up... "Charcoal & Oat Cream" from Zoe Bee Beauty... which is a good fucking job when it's £41.50 per 100ml! 🀯

10/06/2023 @11:54
I be like: "I don't have time". Then start watching One Piece from the beginning.

11/06/2023 @19:10
Been a chill weekend with Lysh. We spent most of yesterday making South Park squishes, we played Minecraft until like 1:30am on the new Trails & Tales update, we watched the Melanie Martinez K-12 movie this afternoon, then went down the park for a bit but it was minging hot so we weren't there long... just long enough to see a small foreign child drop his pants and piss in the middle of the play area...

11/06/2023 @23:08
Just been lay here, lights off, blinds open, rain falling, reading my book - simple bliss ☔πŸ“š

12/06/2023 @16:03
Minging hot, my arms are sticking to my work desk! πŸ₯΅

13/06/2023 @13:32
"We degenerate into hideous puppets, haunted by the memory of the passions of which we were too much afraid, and the exquisite temptations that we had not the courage to yield to." - [reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde]

14/06/2023 @14:24
Another day spent trying to be the best Dad... with the help of O2 Priority Tickets! Because nothing makes me happier, than seeing my daughter happy! πŸ₯°

14/06/2023 @19:18
This 'Just Run' App got me bombing round the living room like a dog with the zoomies πŸ˜‚

15/06/2023 @14:20
Senkuu making Suika glasses on Dr. Stone has just melted my heart πŸ₯ΊπŸ’Ÿ

16/06/2023 @10:17
Ree messaged me last night to "prewarn me" that Lysh is making me a Fathers Day gift this year instead of buying me one πŸ˜‚ she was worried that I would think she was being a cheapskate, but the reality is, one of the presents Lysh bought me for last Fathers Day is still in the box unused (wireless PC headphones); once again, I have to acknowledge that I am blessed to be in the position where I don't actually need/want anything besides really expensive and unrealistic stuff (like a PS5 or a treadmill for instance). I'm sure whatever she makes me will have sentimental value that dwarves the cost of anything she could have bought me instead πŸ₯°

16/06/2023 @23:26
Lysh made the last minute decision to go the park at almost 21:30 πŸ˜‚ walking down, found a tenner in the alley - boom! Had a chill down the park, then opted to do my Just Run 1-3 workout, so spent 20-mins running circuits of the park whilst Lysh played her music and chilled 😁 then bumped into Beth on her doorstep on the way home & had a catch-up... it's been a fun, productive night!

17/06/2023 @18:40
Been Hanley and got Lysh some skincare stuff (there goes that £10er I found last night, never be rich I won't πŸ€£πŸ™ƒ), then KFC for some lunch πŸ”πŸ΄ Then been watch the new Spiderverse film with Lysh. Some woman was not impressed that buying 3x rollover hotdogs, nachos, popcorn and drinks at Cineworld came to £41 πŸ˜‚ film was really good though πŸ₯° headed back home via Hanley Forest Park where there was some nobhead thrashing a crosser around the entire park. Then had to save a small foreign kid who had slipped off the top of the climbing mast, and was being pinned in place by another panicked kid who was yelling for help "this kid is slipping!" and I rushed over and caught him whilst nobody else even reacted 😐

18/06/2023 @18:02
Spent a lovely chill day with Lysh after she melted my heart with her crafted gift - "Yellow" by Coldplay πŸ₯° and gave Ash his Fathers Day gifts to thank him for being such a great stepdad to Lysh 😁

18/06/2023 @22:17
Visited Dad to wish him a Happy Fathers Day, then grabbed a mixed tikka kebab from Adils, and watching the season finale of Demon Slayer! "Thank Goodness! γ‚ˆγ‹γ£γŸ!"

20/06/2023 @20:42
Looking forward to seeing Lysh at her Sports Day this Friday πŸ€—πŸ˜

Following this absolutely mental story about a couple of Year 8 girls being lambasted by a teacher and called "despicable" for refusing to affirm a classmate who identifies as a cat, instead telling them "you're a girl", it's reassuring to see my own opinions being validated by others in mainstream media tbh! πŸ‘€ [Stella O'Malley, a psychotherapist and director of Genspect, who works with vulnerable children, said: "Teachers are working in a vacuum. They don’t know much about this and, in a bid to be kind, they are going to cause long-term distress. "If you are going to enable a child to be dehumanised, if they are using any pronoun that isn’t ‘he’ or ‘she’, it’s literally dehumanising them."] - ["If a child is coming to school identifying as a cat or a horse, that should immediately raise red flags. "The teacher should be asking themselves, what are these children looking at online? What forums are they on? What is going on in the home? What is happening in that child’s life and who else is involved? The teachers are also letting down other pupils whose education is being disrupted by the affirming of children with abnormal behaviour. One pupil at a state secondary school in Wales told The Telegraph of a fellow pupil who "feels very discriminated against if you do not refer to them as 'catself'". She added: "When they answer questions, they meow rather than answer a question in English. And the teachers are not allowed to get annoyed about this because it's seen as discriminating."] - [Nick Fletcher, a backbench Conservative MP, told Mr Zahawi at Monday’s education questions that "caution is needed" about books that "encourage a child to question their biological sex, and to believe they were born in the wrong body because of gender nonconformity".] - ["He told the school staff that he would "stand up for you at all times" and "champion your resolve" if they adopted a tougher stance against the issue. "Children are precious and our job is to guide them through the difficult times in their life, not pigeonhole them or set them on a path of puberty blockers and irreversible infertility and HRT [hormone replacement therapy]," he added.]

22/06/2023 @13:56
"I know how people chatter in England. The middle classes air their moral prejudices over their gross dinner-tables, and whisper about what they call the profligacies of their betters in order to try and pretend that they are in smart society, and on intimate terms with the people they slander. In this country it is enough for a man to have distinction and brains for every common tongue to wag against him. And what sort of lives do these people, who pose as being moral, lead themselves? My dear fellow, you forget that we are in the native land of the hypocrite." - [reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde]

22/06/2023 @22:34
Another win at footy. T is the best outfield, I'm the best in nets. Don't @ me.

23/06/2023 @22:55
Walked 5-miles to watch Lysh in her Sports Day πŸ₯° gave her £2 to go get her & her mates some ice pops... she vanishes... where is she?? Oh, there she is, over in the first aid tent because she's had a random nose bleed 🀦🏻‍♂️🩸 finally comes around to her race, the girls relay - her teammates are Ellie, Ashleigh and Gracie; Lysh is running 4th... the baton get's dropped on the first pass from Ellie to Ashleigh, and they never stood a chance at recovering the lost ground πŸƒπŸ™ˆ aaand as a bonus extra, I have been sunburned to a fucking lobster again! 🀣🦞 what a time to be alive! πŸ˜‚ eventful day!

24/06/2023 @10:32
I've figured out that ironically the reason kids are bored all the time is because of instant gratification. Kids are so attuned to having what they want immediately, they do not have the maturity to understand the value of suspense, of the big pay off from patience. Take reading a book; the beauty of reading a book is slowly working your way through the story, intrigued and invested in how the plot will unravel, how the events will culminate; a kid will skim through it, or consult Google for spoilers, thereby negating the entire point of reading the book. Then say they're bored, as a result of removing the intrigue of reading the story. A book will keep me interested for hours, but kids see it as a waste of time - because why bother wasting time reading it, you can just read a summary online of what happens and save yourself the time. And then be bored instead. TL;DR: Instant gratification is ruining kids.

24/06/2023 @18:54
Lysh is bored. I ask her, "Well, what do you want do?". She replies, "Go shopping". I tell her we don't need anything, I don't have any spare money to go shopping, and nowhere is open; B&M? No. Starbucks or Costa? No. ASDA is open. I've just spent £130 on Melanie Martinez tickets for you less than two weeks ago. "£130 is barely anything" she responds... 🀯 her grasp of money is non-existent. Told her that she needs hobbies that aren't shopping or eating. She has now disappeared upstairs in her bedroom. Fucking mental.

24/06/2023 @23:12
We ended up down the park with £15 worth of Dessert Club πŸ¨πŸ§‡πŸ«πŸ˜‚

25/06/2023 @19:03
Boredom was the flavour of the day again. Lysh displaying utter disinterest in every proposed activity. We had a KFC for lunch, and then spent the entire afternoon lazying around watching YouTube and messing about on Tik-Tok.

26/06/2023 @14:06
"It was the Jews who, rejecting the aristocratic value equation (good = noble = powerful = beautiful = happy = blessed) ventured, with awe-inspiring consistency, to bring about a reversal and held it in the teeth of the most unfathomable hatred (the hatred of the powerless), saying: ‘Only those who suffer are good, only the poor, the powerless, the lowly are good; the suffering, the deprived, the sick, the ugly, are the only pious people, the only ones saved, salvation is for them alone, whereas you rich, the noble and powerful, you are eternally wicked, cruel, lustful, insatiate, godless, you will also be eternally wretched, cursed and damned!’" - [reading On the Genealogy of Morality by Friedrich Nietzsche]

27/06/2023 @22:09
Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is both therapeutic and educational.

28/06/2023 @23:18
Been a fun day assisting the Sophos XGS install at work with Ross & Den; gotta love those weird issues that arise and require out of the box thinking to find causes and fixes. More of the same tomorrow since the XGS won't work off the same DNAT's for the HIK as Ross, Flash, and Rosty found out earlier πŸ˜‚ then sat eating a lovingly prepared chicken, potato and veg tea, when I get abducted and taken over to the Moorland by Oooft who is having a rough time of it lately 😟 at least she seems to have stopped imploding all over social media for now! πŸ™ˆ

29/06/2023 @19:12
"An average person will likely refer to this shift as ‘woke’ and wonder how ‘the trans stuff’ is suddenly everywhere, all at once. Parents are baffled when three out of four of their 12-year-old daughter’s friend group ‘identify’ as boys or, even more confusingly, nonbinary. People started putting pronouns in their social media bios, on their work rΓ©sumΓ©s and in their email signatures. Biological men are competing in women’s sports and being placed in women’s prisons. In medical magazines and birthing classes, women are suddenly referred to by dehumanising terms such as ‘birthing persons’ and ‘uterus havers.’" - "We’ve gone from ‘love is love’ to trans women insisting if a lesbian doesn’t want to suck their lady dick, they’re a fascist."

30/06/2023 @17:31
Work has battered my fucking head these last couples days. There are not enough hours in a day. Helpdesk tickets pile up whilst I'm tied up with fallout from the Sophos XG install... and chasing up emails that get ignored by third parties... and getting scheduled into various Teams meetings and compliance webinars... all whilst being hounded about impending Consumer Duty deadlines that I am not convinced we will be compliant with because I literally have zero time to undertake the required work as I am being constantly dragged into other stuff instead! 🀬

30/06/2023 @23:44
Been a lovely night at Bon Pan with Lysh, the Emotional Fries, and the fam to celebrate Jay turning 20 today! πŸ₯°
