A lovelycheese pizza night alone, just for me. Getting back into routine included doing a little work out. Then sorted through all my holiday photos. Ate spicy potato wedges and vegetable bolognese whilst I finished re-watching Dawson's Creek S6. Then watched some YouTube and fucked around until bed. Simplicity of solitude.

"Fun day at work" he said, lying through his teeth 😒 need another holiday I reckon 🛫 I am so over compliance, regulation, audits and incompetence... yikes. Perhaps it's actually Dunning–Kruger, but I'm convinced that so many people just cosplay their job roles with no actual clue what the fuck they are actually doing! 🥴 Been Tesco and saw Snowballs which I'd completely forgot existed and was like fuck yeah, get in my basket! Simple pleasures! 😂 Lovely sunset tonight 🌇 I was popping round to see Pete after getting concerned by the radio silence when I saw how pretty the sky was, so I had a little detour across the estate to get a better view 😅 then I headed back and was reassured to know my old pal's okay and just needed some solitude, which I totally respect. I have such a limited social battery that I have to lock myself away to recharge quite often, so I totally get it! 🙌🏼 Fuck, that reminds me - Lysh has had me install 'Life360' and now she's monitoring my movements - she sent me a message earlier with a snapshot of my taxi ride home from Tesco with a comment saying "??" 😂 I'm like, really? Feeling like I've got to explain where I am to my 11yr old bahaha! 😵 been cluing myself up on these manifestos ahead of tomorrows election... what flavour of shithousery are going to be fucking us and the country for the next term? 🥴✍🏼

Productive day at work, then walked back home, got changed and headed straight back out the door again 😅 First up was heading down the polling station to place a cross in a box for Reform UK; I know they won't win, but their policies align most with my own views, and I feel they will provide more of an opposition against Labour (who are surely going to landslide it) than the Tories will ❌ Straight out the polling station, and off for a run! Need ramp up my frequency as Tough Mudder approaches at the end of this month, because I hate running and I am pretty shit at it too so... 💁🏼♂️🏃🏼♂️ boxed off a little 5K and was blowing out my ass by the time I got home 🥵🤣 smashed in some steak and veg whilst watching some election news on YouTube, then woke up Pete and went down Forresters for a little catchup then grabbed a couple bottles from the garage to have back at the house 😁🍻 Then I got distracted chatting to John on Messenger and went bed much later than I'd intended! 🥴😂

I have spent the last 2hrs looking for period swimwear I can go buy tomorrow for Bug, with no success... 🥴😤 we've got a date with a hot tub tomorrow and of course, monthly events pop up to piss us off 🩸 I am so frustrated, and Lysh is laying behind me singing Christmas songs at the top of her lungs which would usually amuse me, but I am so frustrated at not being able find anywhere to get any swimwear that it's just annoying me... 😔😓👙 Also, just for added fun, I bought her two packs of pads the other week and she's taken them all to her Mum's and not brought them back 💁🏼♂️ "we can just go buy some more" she says... yeah, we can Lysh, but I shouldn't have too... 🫡🙄

I haven't been so stressed in months 🩸👙 After another couple hours unsuccessfully hunting down period swimwear with Lysh periodically having a meltdown behind me, I have only managed to find some in stock at Derby Primark (according to online). Looked at trains etc to weigh up how feasible it would be; answer - not at all. Then Sammie rings them up to confirm and reserve the stock because Emma has offered to go and grab them on her break, then drive down and drop them off when she finishes work in Derby later on! 🥰🥹 So fucking appreciative right now! ❤️

(well, Lysh packed a full suitcase) 😂 then had a wander down to Longport Station and caught a train down to Stafford around 5pm 🚅 the train was empty so we spread out and took full advantage of the abundance of seating 😁 disembarked and had a little walk through Victoria Park and over to the nearby play area where Lysh enjoyed herself so much she asked if we can come back soon 🛝 went to meet Lance from work, then nipped shop for supplies before grabbing a Maccies and heading back to his to eat 🍟 got to see Sammie and baby Tommy again 👩🏼🍼👶🏼 we all sat and watched England scrape another painful to watch victory ⚽🍻 Emma dropped off a bag of supplies for Lysh (after first taking them to my house in error 🫣) - thank you so much Jord and Em! Totally saved the night for us! 🙏🏼💕 Me, Lance, and Lysh then went out in the hot tub for a couple hours relaxing and singing along to the Echo 🍻🎶 then we all headed back inside, got showered and prepared snacks to watch The Sea Beast 🍫📺 Sammie & Lysh had bowls of Weetos at like half midnight 🥣😅 Lance dozed off first (we noticed immediately by his snoring 😅) shortly followed by Lysh 😪💤 called it a night and went to get tucked up in bed! 😴🛌🏼

Up at 09:30 to get our stuff together and head back home 🥱 had a great night and a decent sleep - thanks for having us over, Sammie & Lance! 🥰 Lance dropped us back off at home mid-morning and now Lysh seems to just want to veg so I'm taking care of some domestic duties.

Ended up watching the rest of The Sea Beast that we'd abandoned last night 🐲🌊 but then most the afternoon has been spent with Lysh doing what she's calling "bedrotting" which is apparently defined as "lying in bed and being unproductive" (only Lysh does it in on the sofa instead 🤣) - and she has compiled a £750+ shopping list for her ideal double/kingsize bed and associated trappings 🙃 after Bug went home at 6pm, I went and made a new PoGo Route around the estate, then did the final Just Run 10K whilst watching Physical 100 🏃🏼♂️📺 then I sat and ate a full Pasta Bake whilst watching 'Fighting With My Family' on Netflix, which then led to me watching a slew of Paige videos on YouTube (whilst trying this new Dairy Milk &more Praline) because I love going down a good rabbit hole! 🤼♀️🤔

Get in from work and decide after a stressy weekend, I'm going to have a quiet one 🤫 I do my non-negotiables (press-ups, sit-ups, planking, grip training etc. ready for Tough Mudder) then settle down with some tea in front of the TV to watch Sweet Tooth S3 and do some Party challenges on PoGo 📺📱 realise I've not played PS in quite a while mainly because this Death Stranding feels so fricking slow and I'm admittedly struggling to get into it 🎮😕 and yes, within half an hour I'm back to being frustrated again (mainly because some BT's just killed me and I've got to redo the entire arduous trek I'd just undertaken all over) 🙄 look across at my phone just as the screen goes black - realise I've got a couple missed calls and an invite to the pub waiting for me 😂🍻 so, the quiet one idea goes out the window, and next thing I'm walking down Green Star with Pete only to find it's closed and have to retrace our streets to the regular haunt of Forresters 😅 couple pints later after seeing some familiar faces including Ken, Watko & Bully, and they're closing up shop... so I end up back at Pete's with a couple of garage Stella's again chatting away until half past midnight 🙃🤣

Really enjoying this so far. The gameplay loop is very addictive, the time mechanic keeps you alert and engaged, and the diversity in hauls appeals to the collector in me. Even upgrading your boat, decorating it, and inventory management feel like fun little mini-games. It drip feeds little scraps of narrative without ever really giving you a full taste, just to keep you on your toes and invested. There is a lot of intrigue, curiosity and immersion here - hard to pull myself away, just keep thinking "lets just get one last catch"!

Currently listening to 'Ultra-Processed People' on Audible whilst commuting and it's actually a very juxtaposed balance of awe and horror. What I've gathered so far is that basically scientists discovered a way to modify cheap ingredients to imitate expensive ingredients, and that is what most "food" is today. These Ultra-Processed Foods are designed to be hyperpalatable and affordable, but at the same time, much more profitable for manufacturers. The ingredients and processes used to create UPF's have been linked to poor cardiometabolic and mental health, and reduced life expectancy. Trans fat (that occurs during the hydrogenation of vegetable oil) has a proven link to coronary artery disease and is being banned globally. Another interesting one was 'RBD Palm Oil'; the RBD stands for 'Refined, Bleached, and Deodorised'. In it's natural state, palm oil is red/orange in colour with a spicy aroma; the RBD process strips out the natural colours, aroma and flavour to leave a bland, versatile product. As a result, RBD Palm Oil is "the most traded vegetable oil in the world today".

After going with school earlier this week, Lysh asked if we can go the museum today. I said yeah of course, thinking it would be a cheap and easy afternoon activity together. Had fun at the museum with Bug this afternoon looking round all the exhibits (personally I was fascinated by a piece of bismuth 😍) 🦌✈️ followed it up with a nice slice of cake each in the cafe 🍰 also managed snag two Necrozma from the PoGo Raids whilst in Hanley, ayy! 😅🙌

Charlie hasn't been to visit again (not seen him since May 5th 😞) so I've been trying to take full advantage of having all day free to hammer this Go Fest and waltzing around the estate grabbing whatever I can! 🤳🏼 That being said, I'm rapidly arriving at the conclusion that I should not let PoGo draw me in too deeply. I previously went down the P2W time-sink rabbit hole with both 'Game of War: Fire Age' and 'Marvel Strike Force' being uber competitive, in top tier guilds, and dumping money into them both. Then I quit after becoming disenfranchised by the RNG and poor ROI. I had already started eyeing up some of these micro-transactions in PoGo and considering it, but then I get frustrated by the RNG and remember that companies like Niantic (and 99% of other devs like Machine Zone, Foxnext, and Scopely) do not care about you. You will always remain a tiny insignificant account in the grand scheme of things, and short of a mass exodus, nothing will change. So yeah, I'll suck it up that this weekend was a wash and I spent a lot of time wandering around for very little in terms of progress (I got a few Necrozma, some low IV Event mons, and zero shinies) ✌🏼 Que sera sera.

This book is a rabbit hole I really tried to avoid going down because I was worried it would convince me to stop eating a lot of the foods that I enjoy (looks at Pringles guiltily)... Plot twist! Turns out that they aren't actually foods that I enjoy anyway! I so am proud of how far I've come in the last 12-years of being a single parent, surviving on a single wage (15% of which goes to the coparent for child maintenance, along with contributing 50% for any school uniform, trips etc. as required). In addition to running a house alone, I've managed my finances well enough to pay off £16k of unsecured debt (I have nothing on finance, credit cards, or buy now pay later; my only remaining debt is Student Loans). I've built my credit score back up to 632/710 (Excellent) and still been able to give Lysh a privileged childhood without her having to 'miss out' on stuff. I may have fucked up a lot in my own life, but I always swore that I wouldn't fail at parenting so I ensure that every day I show up for her. I make any sacrifices necessary for her to have the best childhood I can possibly provide for her... I can only hope when Bug grows up, she can look back and see I did everything in my power to be the best Dad I could! 💛

[Playing Dredge]
I can already tell I'm going to end up getting the Platinum on this game, it's just so engaging and accessible! I've already fully upgraded my boat, completed all the research paths, caught ~75% of fish variants, and completed probably 90% of the pursuits. A lot of that is thanks to the short gameplay loop whereby it's possible to have a "quick half hour" here and there (which is great when you have a job, kids, and a house to run). It means I am able to quickly jump on and make some progress without worrying I'll end up stuck between tedious objectives, or dragged into a long cutscene etc. Really enjoying this game!

Platinum earned. Trying to find the last aberration got tedious, but using Bait helped immensely. For anyone in a similar position - just go to the Airman in Twisted Strand and trade a haul of fish for Bait, and then sit in the same spot in the necessary biome using them (you don't even have to worry whether it's day/night, all fish spawn for Bait). Agree with another review I saw on here stating the ending was very abrupt; totally agree - you get the heads up that you're about to pass the point of no return, and then it's pretty much instantly over. Great game though, thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it and would highly recommend.

Unsure what to make of this so far, it's largely been like reading a romantic, harem manga. The characters are so adorable, and as someone genuinely into poetry, I actually appreciate that aspect of the game also. It's all so adorable and cutesy that it almost makes you forget the warnings at the start about not being suitable for kids or people who are easily disturbed. Almost. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop...

Glad my morning was spent in an enjoyable meeting with Anna from Wayv, rather than dealing with this Crowdstrike clusterfuck! They released a content update with faulty code and caused 'csagent.sys (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONEPAGED_AREA)' BSOD loops 😳 There is a workaround of deleting c-00000291*.sys from sys32 drivers, but the fallout has been huge including taking banks and airlines offline! And if you have bitlocker too... womp womp! 🤯

The game within a VM concept feels familiar as did a few other elements; vibes of Portal, There Is No Game WD, and Do Not Feed The Monkeys. Enjoyed it.

[Playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition]
I vaguely recall trying to play Mass Effect back in the day, and not being a fan. I booted up the Legendary Edition and quickly remembered why. It was the overwhelming amount of exposition in the early game that frustrated me. The type of player that I am, I exhaust every dialogue option, I read every codex and journal entry, I'm like a lore sponge who wants to have awareness of everything that may be relevant. And this game just gives you it in spades. In the first two hours of playing, I've visited Eden Prime and had a brisk walk around the Citadel. That's it. It feels like I've not really achieved a great deal beside reading and talking. I remain optimistic however, given the popularity of the franchise that there must be something special worth persevering for.

And this game just gives you it in spades. In the first two hours of playing, I've visited Eden Prime and had a brisk walk around the Citadel. That's it. It feels like I've not really achieved a great deal beside reading and talking. I remain optimistic however, given the popularity of the franchise that there must be something special worth persevering for.

At this point, Ticket Factory can actually suck my nuts... imagine spending 2.75hrs in and out of queues and still missing out on getting any tickets in the Sabrina Carpenter O2 presale! 🎫🤯 Every fucking website error possible! Queued all the way four times... session timed out... page loaded up blank with no content... wouldn't allow Add to Basket, kept refreshing with empty basket... then some error about "you must select a valid performance" and then refreshed me to some other error page saying it doesn't exist! Lately I've become hyperaware that I keep feeling like I need to pee again, straight after I've just finished having one. Googled it to see if there was any obvious reason and seemingly triggered an anxiety attack! 😅🤦🏼♂️ I suddenly came over all funny... went light headed, felt nauseous, broke out in a cold sweat, had double vision... legit thought I was about to pass out or vomit 😵🤮 had to sit with my head down on the desk with my eyes closed and take some deep controlled breaths... and now I feel fine again. Living the dream ✌🏼

Not feeling great since earlier... for the first time in ages, felt compelled to check my oxygen saturation and blood pressure... really flared my health anxiety up 😣 so I'm having an overdue night of rest and relaxation I reckon 😪 Made myself some tea & slumped my ass in front on the TV for a bit 📺 now I'm going go have a nice soak in the bath 🛀🏼 then probably get an earlyish night tbh 😴✌🏼

Just finished watching Love/Hate S1... 📺 It's fairly decent, but can proper tell it's age and budget at times. And some of the writing is soap opera-esque. Always amusing to see actors/actresses in older roles before they blew up... like Klaus Hargreeves, Tulip O'Hare, and Petyr Baelish 🤯 and Elmo at the end like "nah, fuck him" about Hughie was *chefs kiss* 👌🏼

Done a little workout - the last one before Tough Mudder on Saturday since tomorrow will be a rest day to recover somewhat 💪🏼 Done a washload including work uniform so I don't need worry about it over the weekend - gotta love these dress down Fridays! 🧺 Cooked and ate a full Pasta Bake because felt starving all day! 🍝 Played a couple of PoGo Party events using two devices, whilst also playing Mass Effect Legendary Edition 🎮 And reminded myself that Milkybar Desserts are like kiddie crack... not sure which is worse; these or that Biscoff Smooth Spread! 🤤😍

Just seen about Jenko on the Sentinel - what the fuck?! 🤮 I messaged Ree about it, since she used to be close mates with him too! Got chatting briefly with her and she's told me that they're cancelling next years holiday and rebooking somewhere else 😐 apparently the heat in Turkey is killing them off and it's 42°C at 7pm 🥵🤯 Lysh has got sunburnt again, this time mainly on her cheeks, but she doesn't seem too distressed by it so 🤞🏼 it's not that bad! Doesn't make me feel very optimistic about my holiday to Turkey in a few weeks though! Steady day at work preparing myself for a fortnight of playing stand-in Operations Director again whilst DM is on annual leave 🫡💅🏼 got home and since Lysh isn't visiting this weekend, I've spent a lonely evening in my Tough Mudder mindset 💪🏼 studied the obstacles list to ensure I'm not blindsided 🤓 had a safe and sensible meal of wholegrain rice, tuna & veg 🍚🫛 prepped, packed and triple-checked my outfit & kit 👟🎒 checked the weather forecast and almost pissed myself when I saw it saying it's going to be thundery showers during the event 😂⛈️ in which case it defo should be a muddy one this year! 🙈 and now it's an early night! 💤

Yorkshire 10-mile Tough Mudder 2024, it's been a blast! ✅🏆 With my big brother Tez & my lil' mate Steve beside me, we've ran, climbed, crawled, swung, vaulted, swam, hung, balanced, plunged, carried, abseiled, lifted... 🏃🏼♂️➡️🧗🏼♂️💪🏊🏼🪜 ...over hills, through mud, electric shocks, under barbed wire, in ice cold water... 💩⚡💥⚠️🧊🥶 ...whilst getting bruised, grazed, cut, bashed, battered and electrocuted... 🩸🩹🩻🫁🦴🪫... but these medals represent and stand as testament to our physical endurance and mental fortitude! Oorah! 🏅💯

Been for celebratory food and drinks with T & Stace 😁🥰 after initially going the Plough and finding out they only serve carvery's and no other proper meals... 🤯😐 ...we had a few starters (they didn't even have Poppin Chicken so we had to settle for fried chicken instead) and a swift drink 🍗🍻 then we moved down the road to Horn and Trumpet instead so we could find something more appetising 🤤🥧🍕 we had live music from Samantha Lloyd, and Lovatt had to come down retrieve his airpods that he'd left in the car 🙈 a great night to end a great day! 🍻🍵 and now I'm having a quick shower to wash as much of this mud off as possible, then going to bed! Thank you and goodnight! 🚿🛌🏼💤

Woke up before my alarm, circadian rhythm cares little for fatigue it seems 🥲 Mum messaged saying Char wasn't coming as he wouldn't wake up again... so like the sadist I am, I got myself all sorted and then walked the 5-miles to their house to deliver these Malta souvenirs! 🚶🏼➡️😅 after chatting to my Mum and Dawn for a bit and being harrassed by Ghost repeatedly... 🐶 ...me & Char popped down Sainsbury's, then headed up to Richmond Street Park for some nostalgia 🌳🛝 Dawn dropped me back home around 6pm 🚗 had a fat takeaway of loaded fries & Asian Style Pizza from Tiger Bite for a tenner 🍕🍟 washed all my Tough Mudder kit and trainers which was fucking caked 💩🚿 then popped out down Forresters for a couple of pints with Pete 🍻😁

Watching S3 of Love/Hate and all I could think was that Nidge is a special kind of stupid, proper letting power go to his head and thinking he's untouchable... and then Tommy beats him to the punch ffs 🤦🏼♂️ I mean, tbh, most of these characters are fucking dumb... but at the same time, it's plausible given their status and the nature of human behaviour 🤔 Fran is a fucking boi, probably my fave character atm 😂

Finished work and nipped Tesco with TJ. Got back home and immediately headed across Moorland to meet up with Sammie, Lance, Zack and Liam 😎 Schoolboy error number one was not eating first! All I've had all day is a couple rounds of toast and a peppered steak pasty! 🙈 Quick chat with Sean Gee, then spot Cal & Beth too and have little catchup... then off I go to sink 5x pints in the beer garden 🍻🌞 Last orders rolls around and most the group head home leaving just myself and Irish 🍀 We join up with #EmojiDick who has taken fashion tips off #TrananaTits since Monday 😂🍌 and Callum & Sarah... and then make the ballsy decision to head back with them to Sarah's and continue drinking at the house 🙈🍻 next things it's almost midnight and I'm staggering back home expecting I'll regret my choices tomorrow morning at work! 🥴🤣
